Monday, October 25, 2010, 6 – 8pm

Ticket Prices: Free of Charge

With the support of BHP Billiton, Bell Shakespeare’s renowned Actors At Work programme will visit Kalgoorlie and Kambalda in October, where they will hold a free performance for the community at the Goldfields Arts Centre on Monday 25 October, followed by a number of one hour performances for students at John Paul College in Kalgoorlie and Kambalda High School in Kambalda on 26 October.

Actors At Work is Bell Shakespeare’s flagship student programme, designed to give secondary school students an inspiring introduction to the works of Shakespeare. Three teams of four professional actors tour every state and territory in Australia, visiting communities as remote as Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory and Menindee in the far west of New South Wales.

Actors At Work, scripted by Ned Manning, brings live performance into the classroom, helping students get to know Shakespeare’s plays from the inside out. With just two roadcases, five banners and a handful of props, Actors At Work proves that you don’t need professional stages, lighting rigs or elaborate costumes to put on a play. Shakespeare has never been so real for young people!

La Boheme by Co-Opera

La Boheme by Co-OperaGoldfields Arts Centre
Cheetham St Kalgoorlie
Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 7:30 – 10:30pm

Ticket Prices: Adult $45.00 Seniors $35.00 VIP $95.00
Venue: Goldfields Arts Centre

The Bohemians are an idealistic, penniless bunch intent on enjoying the festive season. Tribulations, celebrations and a troubled love triangle provide a counterpoint to the genuine and profound love between Rodolfo and Mimi. Although they transcend love’s enemy, misunderstanding, their destiny is ultimately a tragic one. Puccini’s poignant music amplifies the drama, and, so long as we believe in the characters, their journey inevitably touches our most fundamental human emotions.
In the best traditions of Co-Opera, this production of La Bohème, set in no specific era, seeks that romantic essence which has made it one of the most widely performed and loved of all operas.
This production will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra.
VIP tickets include pre-show drinks and nibbles and post-show drinks with the cast.
For more info call the Goldfields Arts Centre on 9088 6900.
