Hi guys, just a brief WOWKAL ALERT Please pass along to anyone you know who might be interested or suitable! AUDITIONS for Stage Left’s first 2010 show the hilarious comedy “Men of Stone” will take place TONIGHT MONDAY NOVEMBER 30th 7pm for 7.30pm at the Barracks, 61b Burt Street Boulder (enter through door on Lane St).
Director Kevin Blair is seeking a cast of FOUR MEN and ONE WOMAN to fill the roles, as per the character descriptions below. CREW members are also being sought. Expressions of interest welcomed. If you have any queries, please email stageleft@wowkal.com or phone Kevin on 0417 961 225 What happens when your greatest work of art comes to life…as the wrong person? The great Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo (a.k.a. Mickey) is nearing the completion of his magnificent statue of Moses, commissioned by Pope Julius II. But when Moses comes to life in the blue-collar persona of Mickey’s model, the local butcher, Mickey’s life begins to crumble. He frantically tries to undo his inadvertent miracle, as the butcher, the imperious Pope, and a ravenous Countess all stake their claim in a work of art that truly does imitate life. CAST OF CHARACTERS POPE JULIUS: Pompous, intelligent, and rigid. Supportive of those who serve him. MO: Simple and unsophisticated, yet intuitive and charismatic. One of the guys. He should speak with a Brooklyn or South Philadelphia accent. MICKEY: Self-righteous, intense, driven, aloof, cynical, passionate artist. His struggle with his sexuality is not because of inner turmoil, but because it is a distraction from his work. MOSES: Exactly like Mo in character, but made of marble. COUNTESS: A smart, sensuous woman of nobility. Elegant, perceptive, no-nonsense. Please note: Rehearsals will commence in December and continue through the holiday period (with a break for Christmas and New year) – 5 performances will be: February 5, 6 and 11, 12, 13
